Retail Store Photography work for Prada

Recently I was excited to complete a project for the iconic fashion brand Prada. The shoot was for their flagship location in Soho, New York City. Below you can see one of the Hero Images from this shoot.

One of the main concerns with Retail Architectural Photography and shooting through glass is dealing with reflections. Reflections on glass can block the displays making them hard to see which is the last thing a client wants. Often it is very challenging, especially in a city or urban area to avoid reflections from other buildings, passing cars, and lit up signs.

The solution here was to shoot right at sunrise which was around 7am. This allows the light from the inside of the building to be more prominent than light from the outside. There are also fewer cars out and signs lit up at that time of day. There were a few reflections but they are not that noticeable and you can cleary see the window displays.

Inside the store there were beautiful installations that the visual team had spent all night working on:

This was a more architectural style photograph to capture the entire space and show the relation of the display to the rest of the store.

During the shoot I collaborated with the visual team to make sure the angles worked with how they wanted to capture the displays. There is a lot of tweaking that goes on behind the scenes. Overall it was really exciting to shoot and capture their amazing work.
